Tropical Vegetable Garden, Phase 3

Finally got all the weeds out today. As you'll notice in the picture, the side of the house is in need of serious stucco repair, which hopefully will be accomplished within the next few months.

The carpet is there to keep weeds down for now on the pathway. Once the pathway is laid out, the carpet will be laid down and covered with mulch. I'm going to be calling tree trimmers this week to see about getting some free mulch. I could really use a whole truckload for this and other projects.

Next, I will be planting the right side of the bed. I've discovered that the front of it gets a lot of afternoon sun, so I'll be putting some veggies in there for now to keep it going until I can figure it all out in the spring.

I have added you to my blog list. I will enjoy catching up on your past posts. How very cool to have a tropical garden!! I remember my granddad sitting in his back yard in Miami surrounded by tangelo and banana trees, with a squirrel sitting in his lap eathing peanuts out of his shirt pocket. I love Florida. Lost of memories. I hope you enjoy your place. Sounds like you will put every inch to work. Are you in an area where you can have chickens? (you may have addressed this in past posts but I haven't gotten caught up yet)

Thanks for visiting! I'll add you to my blog list as well. No, I can't have livestock, but I'll work around that. I can have rabbits, but I would never be able to kill or eat them!

I can't wait to hear about your successes with veggie planting. It is nice to know there are others here in FL trying to do like the Devraes family out in CA.
